Just beyond Chestnut Hill in Montgomery County, the historic General Lafayette Inn is home to a cozy five-bedroom guest house, restaurant, bar, and brewery. Rooms ($109–159) are comfortable and include antiques, televisions, and a self-service continental breakfast.
It was built and has been operated nearly continuously since 1732, and was named for General Lafayette, who led troops in the nearby battle of Barren Hill during the Revolutionary War. Its storied history is fodder for quite a few ghost stories.
