The Central Market (23 N. Market St., 717/291-4723, Tues. and Fri. 6 a.m.–4 p.m., Sat. 6 a.m.–2 p.m.) is an excellent place to stop for a bite and shop for locally made goods and food. The current redbrick building was built in 1889, and the market features over 60 stalls including a wide variety of fresh produce and meat from local farms, along with fresh-cut flowers, seafood, handcrafted quilts, handmade fudge, baked goods, and international cuisine.
An example of the great prices: a bag of fruit for about $1, an apple fritter for $0.60, or an empanada for $1.50.
