The University of Wisconsin’s Vilas Hall (821 University Ave., 608/262-1500) has two theaters presenting university dramatic and musical productions throughout the year. The long-standing Broom Street Theatre (1119 Williamson St., 608/244-8338, http://BSTOnline.org [1]) is the Midwest’s oldest year-round experimental theater group.
A refurbished movie theater is now the Bartell Theatre (113 E. Mifflin St., 608/294-0740, www.madstage.com [2]), which also features many of the same local and regional theatrical groups as the Overture Center, including the Madison Theatre Guild (608/238-9322).
The popular Madison Symphony Orchestra (608/257-3734) performs a dozen or more times during the year at Overture Hall in the Madison Arts District Complex. On campus, the UW-Madison School of Music (608/263-9485) has a year-round slate of performances by faculty, students, and visiting musicians; the Chazen Museum of Art (800 University Ave., 608/263-2246, http://chazen.wisc.edu [3]) has a popular Sunday Afternoon Live series in autumn and winter.
