Located in the Baltimore Museum of Art [1], Gertrude’s (named for chef John Shields’ grandmother) is a showcase for classic Chesapeake Bay dishes, like oysters and fish, as well as Asian-style entrées, steaks, and even burgers. There’s also a “make your own entrée” menu system, which is great for both the indecisive and the adventurous.
The restaurant’s gorgeous, tented patio, overlooking the BMA’s sculpture garden and grounds, with the city bustling just beyond the trees, is a local favorite. The patio fills up fast on fair-weather weekends and nights, so reservations, especially for brunch, are a necessity.
