If you’re looking for a generally relaxed and always interesting night out, mixing up drinks and dancing and maybe live music, Sonar is your best bet. DJs are the mainstay here, but there are also plenty of great live gigs (one recent three-show lineup included Gwar, Method Man and Redman, and Alejandro Escovedo); fittingly, there’s no dress code or hassle about things like that.

Three rooms of increasing size can accommodate bands of various popularity, and there are plenty of places to just hang out and dance.
