This four-team league of talented young ladies plays to packed houses across Baltimore [2], and fields an All-Star team that goes up against the crème de la crème from other cities. Founded in 2005, this rejuvenation of the concept of all-female roller derby (a hit in the 1950s and ’60s) mixes the thrill of competition, the knowledge that the matches aren’t rigged, and a black-fingernailed dose of punk rock fearlessness and pride in the ability to perform a thunderous take-down without drawing a penalty.
