The Midwest’s premier Native American museum, the Ziibiwing Center of Anishinabe Culture & Lifeways (6650 E. Broadway, 989/775-4750, www.sagchip.org/ziibiwing [1], 10 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Sat., $7 adults, $4 seniors 60 and over, $4 children 5–17) demonstrates the rich culture and history of the Great Lakes’s Anishinabek tribe.
The permanent “Diba Jimooyung” exhibit illustrates the amazing history of the original inhabitants of the Great Lakes, including their prophecies and their struggle to preserve their land, language, and culture.
At different times during the year, the museum often hosts traveling exhibits about tribes from other parts of Michigan and elsewhere in the United States.
