Along the Lake Huron shore near Cedarville, The Spring Lodge and Cottages Resort (916 Park Ave., 906/484-2282, www.springlodge.com [1], June–Nov.) has a wonderful location in the heart of Les Cheneaux. Large and well-kept grounds house cottages, most overlooking the water.
In nearby Hessel, you can stay at year-round

Guests have access to all resort facilities, including tennis courts, a restaurant, and a golf course.
The island’s best camping is at Township Park (906/493-5245) not far from the ferry dock. This rustic campground has 43 pretty RV and tent sites tucked within the woods on Potagannissing Bay. Amenities include picnic tables, outhouses, a sandy beach, and a boat ramp.
