Neighborhood favorite Bang! is the kind of place where owners are on a first-name basis with their regulars but still attract new customers all the time for their dependable, simple food such as meatloaf and mashed potatoes, fried catfish, or a crisp salad.

Located in an old house in Highland Square, Bang! put their kitchen on the street side, and diners walk through a narrow corridor to get into the dining room and patio around back.

Parts of the menu change seasonally, but don’t miss the gingerbread with whipped cream for dessert and when available, the red velvet cake.
