Boat racing meets cultural recognition and celebration at the annual Dragon Boat Festival. In less than a decade this has become the largest Pan-Asian festival in the region, with crowds of about 100,000 gathered to learn more about Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
The main draw at this two-day event in July is the boat racing across the lake—and the competition gets more fierce every year as racers learn from the previous year and more types of races are offered. Explore Asia is one aspect of the festival where local ethnic groups—Hmong, Filipino, Mongolian, and others—can demonstrate cultural traditions.
Admission to the festival is free; it’s best to consider the shuttle service options for getting there.
