Like it or not, each January Denver [2] becomes a cowtown when the National Western Stock Show is held for over three weeks. One major highlight is the cattle drive right through the middle of downtown as longhorn steers are guided up 17th Street from Union Station [3] to the Brown Palace [4].
The event schedule at the complex is packed with 4-H competitions, horse shows, bull riding, and other rodeo shows, and an array of special performances like the popular Mexican Rodeo Extravaganza and Martin Luther King Jr. African American Heritage Rodeo.
