Usually the Denver Zoo [1] is a quiet place at night as most of the animals slumber, but during the holiday season it becomes a festive gathering place for people and animals with lights blazing through about half of the zoo.

It’s more than just lights shaped like zoo animals and sparkling trees, though—there are ice sculpture carvings made on-site, a Kwanzaa celebration, dances, and carolers.

It’s a busy time as families enjoy being outside in the crisp winter air and a chance to see the zoo at a different time of day.
