With two lakes, tennis courts, jogging and bicycle paths, playgrounds, a soccer field, a recreation center, flower gardens, and more within 165 acres, Washington Park is one of the city’s most popular parks. People are drawn to this neighborhood for the historic bungalows that surround the park as much as for the active lifestyle of the park.
Poet and journalist Eugene Field lived in Denver [2] for two years in the late 1800s and is remembered in Washington Park with a statue of “Wynken, Blynken and Nod,” after his most well-known poem.
