For people who are really into skiing, Eldora is considered a beginners’ resort—great news for all the beginners and non-experts out there!
There are 12 lifts in all at Eldora Mountain Resort [1] (2861 Eldora Ski Rd. Ste. 140, 303/440-8700, www.eldora.com [2], lift tickets $7–59), where the peak elevation is 10,800 feet. There are adult and child lessons offered daily during ski season. Eldora does have some challenging and expert runs, including the Corona Bowl, a double-black-diamond. There are four terrain parks for boarders and ski and snowboard equipment rental available for all ages and abilities.
Just a short walk across the parking lot from the downhill runs is Eldora’s Nordic Center, which rents cross-country and telemark skis and snowshoes. There are group or private lessons, but the bargains are in the packages that include instruction and rental.
You can purchase lift tickets or season passes at Eldora Mountain Sports (2775 Canyon Blvd., you can purchase lift tickets or season passes 303/440-8700) in Boulder [3] before driving up the mountain.
