Highway 30 west of Charlotte Amalie [1] is crowded with commercial ventures: banks, warehouses, shopping centers, car rentals, and gas stations. About four miles outside of the city center is the Cyril E. King International Airport, and past that the road narrows to two lanes and becomes decidedly less trafficked.
