Salt Pond Bay

For many St. John [1] residents, Salt Pond Bay is a favorite beach, if for no other reason than that it tends to be uncrowded, even on weekends. This is partly due to the bay’s remote location near the end of Route 107, and partly due to the 10-minute hike to the beach.

Salt Pond Bay’s wide, white beach is speckled by small pebbles. It offers some shade, several picnic tables, and pit toilets. The hikes to Ram’s Head Point [2] and Drunk Bay begin at the eastern end of the beach. There is good snorkeling around the two sets of jagged rocks that break the surface in the middle of the bay.
