The 1.2-mile Ram’s Head Trail takes you to the windswept end of Ram’s Head [1], the southernmost point of St. John [2]. Take Route 107 nearly to the end, to Salt Pond Bay [3], and then follow the wide, sunny 0.25-mile path down to Salt Pond Beach. The Ram’s Head Trail starts at the eastern end of the beach, climbing through dry, scrubby woods before reaching a rocky bay. The final ascent is up 200 feet to Ram’s Head—the views and general atmosphere are spectacular. This hike is the perfect prescription to calm the mind and energize the spirit.
Near the beginning of the Ram’s Head Trail, there is a 0.25-mile spur trail to Drunk Bay, an excellent spot for beachcombing.
