There is no better place to soak up Road Town [1]’s charm, such as it is, than on narrow and winding Main Street, home to historic buildings, museums, boutiques, and cafés. It is a wonderful place for an early morning or late afternoon stroll and has the best shopping on Tortola [2].
Explore Main Street on foot; it simply is not practical or pleasant to navigate it in a car. The sights presented here can easily be turned into a walking tour that begins at Old Government House [3], on the western end of Main Street, and concludes at the House of Assembly in the center of town. From there you can easily find the Joseph Reynold O’Neal Botanical Gardens [4] about two blocks away. Plan on at least one hour to do this one-mile walk, more if you spend a lot of time in the shops and museums.
