Taking place in early December, this weekend festival includes musical performances, vendors, and the lighting of a Christmas tree in the Sir Olva Georges Plaza [1]. It marks the unofficial beginning of the holiday season in the BVI.
Fungi is the traditional music of the Virgin Islands [2] and at no time of the year is it more appreciated than during the Christmas season. Fungi Fest takes place in mid-December and features traditional performers from the Virgin Islands [2] and farther afield.
Usually taking place in February, Farmer’s Week is organized by the Department of Agriculture and local farmers. It includes farm and garden competitions, demonstrations for school groups, and workshops. But the main event is the agricultural exhibition that takes place over the weekend at Paraquita Bay [3]. Here you will see livestock and have a chance to buy a wide variety of local fruits and vegetables from farmers. There are also games, entertainment, and speeches.
