Virgin Gorda [1] is a long, meandering island. The southern portion of the island is known as the Valley; it is flat and the most populated part of Virgin Gorda. Spanish Town [2] is the residential and commercial center located around the ferry dock and marina. It is a 10-minute drive from Spanish Town through quiet residential areas to the Baths [3], at the southern tip of the island.
The northern half of Virgin Gorda is essentially a single, large mountain that rises to 1,370 feet at Gorda Peak National Park [4]. At mid-island are a clutch of villa resorts and fine beaches. On the other side of Gorda Peak is North Sound, a large natural harbor home to luxury resorts and seaside restaurants. Much of North Sound [5] is accessible only by boat.
