Since it opened in 2008, LV’s Piano & Jazz Lounge (12 Bermudiana Rd., tel. 441/296-3330, noon–1 a.m. Mon.–Thurs., noon–3 a.m. Fri., 8 p.m.–1 a.m. Sat., closed Sun.) has become a favorite in Bermuda’s classier nightclub scene. An upstairs piano bar, outfitted in white, features live jazz on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Themes such as mojito and champagne nights, an enviable wine list, and tapas like filo-wrapped fishcakes, mango sushi, and roasted duck ricepaper rolls encourage a sophisticated, cosmopolitan crowd. Be forewarned: The dress code is smart—i.e. no T-shirts, beach shorts, sneakers, or tank tops.
The Captain’s Lounge (Reid St., at Washington Ln., tel. 441/293-9546) and Casey’s Cocktail Lounge (25 Queen St., tel. 441/293-9549) both attract a purely Bermudian crowd, especially on Friday afternoons and public holiday weekends.
North Hamilton’s Swinging Doors (29 Court St., tel. 441/293-9267), Spinning Wheel (33 Court St., tel. 441/292-7799), and Place’s Place (43 Dundonald St. at E. F. Gordon Square, tel. 441/293-9268), are busy weekend hangouts. Avoid walking alone at night in this neighborhood’s quieter regions.
