Favorites include: Treats of Bermuda (7 Reid St., in the Washington Mall, tel. 441/296-1123), for candy, Klutz games kits, and Thomas the Tank Engine; Jack’n’ Jill’s (7 Park Rd., tel. 441/292-3769), with a tempting old-fashioned candy bar and toys for all ages; The Annex (upstairs in the Phoenix Centre, 3 Reid St., tel. 441/279-5410), where candy and toys can also be found; Pulp & Circumstance (10 Queen St., tel. 441/292-9586), a treasure trove of stuffed animals, nursery lamps, and upscale baby gifts; and Otto Wurz (3–5 Front St., tel. 441/295-1247), at the corner of Front Street and Bermudiana Road, home of beautiful wooden handmade toys.
Daisy & Mac (22 Church St., in the Washington Mall, tel. 441/295-7477, www.daisyandmac.com [1]) sells puzzles, wooden and other toys, and shoes and clothes for young children.
People’s Pharmacy (62 Victoria St., tel. 441/292-7527, www.peoplespharmacy.bm [2]) has one of the best children’s toy sections, with Lego, Playmobil, arts and crafts, and baby gear, as well as candy and chocolate.
Gibbons Company (21 Reid St., tel. 441/295-0022) has a large children’s clothing department as well as a wide selection of toys.
For stylish European clothes, don’t miss Iana (12 Walker Arcade, Hamilton, tel. 441/292-0002) and Benetton (24 Reid St., upstairs, tel. 441/295-2112), which both stock fashionable leather shoes and durable boys’ and girls’ outfits.
The Irish Linen Shop (31 Front St., tel. 441/295-4089), a fixture of Front Street for over a century, sells hand-stitched babies’ layette sets, embroidered dresses, booties, and other precious gift items.
English Sports Shop (49 Front St., tel. 441/295-2672) also has a children’s department, with preppy woolens, golf shirts, and polo necks. (Sorry, there’s no Gap or Old Navy on the island.)
