Walking is a great way to explore Hamilton’s [1] relatively small grid, peppered with historic and interesting sights like museums, churches, and Parliament buildings.
Tim Rogers of Bermuda Lectures & Tours (tel. 441/234-4082, trogers [at] northrock [dot] bm) gives free two-hour walking tours sponsored by the Cultural Affairs Department in the winter, and custom walks to suit all interests in the summer ($60 for a maximum of six people).
Hamilton Town Crier Ed Christopher (tel. 441/293-3622 or 441/777-9738, eschrist [at] ibl [dot] bm) impresses with his uniform and feathered hat, as well as his local knowledge in walkabouts starting at City Hall on Church Street.
And if you’d like to rest your legs, hop on the mini train Bermuda Train Company (tel. 441/236-5972), which picks up passengers near the Front Street flagpole and takes them on an hour-long, nonstop tour of the city ($23 per person, $30 with visit to the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute).
