Pitts Bay Road is one of Bermuda’s most scenic thoroughfares; lined by guesthouses, pastel mansions, and sprawling gardens, it is one of the island’s wealthiest districts. The serene residential enclaves of Fairylands, Point Shares, and Mill’s Point contain centuries-old waterfront homes of Bermudian merchant families, many of whose descendents still live here.
These are private property, of course, but a stroll down the network of neighborhood lanes is nevertheless peacefully revealing. In the early spring, many old homes have gardens carpeted with freesias, and the sound of traffic is nonexistent.
