The government-run Parson’s Road Playground is a highly popular attraction for children from all over the island. Parents bring their kids after school at 3:30 p.m., and holidays find the swings, slides, tunnels, fort, and pirate ship crowded with happy youngsters. There’s also a gazebo for shady picnics, and plenty of parking.

Spanish Point Park’s [1] tiny coves and quiet, shallow bays are just what children love, and kids can spend hours here exploring rock pools, snorkeling, and swimming. The park’s North Shore edge, where coves are scattered, is best when the wind is blowing from the south; in the winter, the water gets choppy. Shady trees, lawns for playing, and picnic tables make this a perfect family spot.

Don’t miss Fort Hamilton’s [2] moat garden and dungeons—one of the Hamilton area’s best kid-pleasing attractions, or Admiralty Park’s [3] forest trails and rocky tunnels.

X-Clue-Sive Creations at the old Berkeley School (23 Berkeley Rd., at St. John’s Rd., tel. 441/296-1676, xcreations [at] logic [dot] bm) allows children and adults to create their own ceramics (lighthouses, pirate mugs) and then paint them. Collect them a few days later after glazing.
