Organically-grown fruit and vegetables, whole chickens for roasting, fresh eggs, and Bermuda honey make Wadson’s Farm Stand (junction of Middle Rd. and the Railway Trail, opposite Whale Bay Rd., Wed. and Fri. 3–6 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.–noon) a mecca for area residents and passing motorists. Winner of The Bermudian magazine’s 2008 Award of Excellence for food and beverage, farmer Tom Wadson hails from a centuries-old Bermudian family and now focuses his energies on all things chemical-free.
His Southampton [1] farm (10 Luke’s Pond Rd., tel. 441/238-1862, wadsonfarm [at] ibl [dot] bm), a good example of a sustainable organic operation, is open to visitors by appointment. He and sister Judith, a chef, also sell their seasonal produce, pasture-raised poultry, fresh lamb, and “Bermuda Hog” pork at the Saturday City Market [2], at Bull’s Head carpark in Hamilton (8 a.m.–noon Sat., Nov.–June).
