Clocktower Mall

Clocktower Mall (open summer 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Sun., winter 10 a.m.–5 p.m. daily) is the West End’s main shopping center, with more—and busier—retail outlets than Somerset Village [1], particularly on weekends and during the cruise ship season, when the mall gets swamped with passengers. Note that many stores here keep shorter winter hours, as the Dockyard [2] reverts to quiet maritime enterprises once cruise season is over—to shopkeepers’ chagrin.

Beautiful kilim rugs, bags, exotic lamps, and slippers from Grand Bazaar (tel. 441/234-4646, grandbazaar [at] fkbnet [dot] bm, www.grandbazaarbda.com [3]) are brought in from Turkey by husband-and-wife team Bulent and Teresa Ganal.

Boyd and Muna Vallis also run a husband-and-wife operation, Asean Persuasion (tel. 441/234-5657), with carved wooden animals, windchimes, jewelry, and beautiful trinkets from Indonesia.

Iana (tel. 441/234-1194) offers Euro-style panache to young fashionistas with its Italian-made clothing for girls and boys.

Kids will also gravitate to Daisy & Mac, which overflows with toys, puzzles, outfits, and princess and pirate costumes.

Gift-hunters love Pulp & Circumstance (tel. 441/234-1698), whose two Hamilton stores and one airport outlet are hugely popular. Stocked with stationery, Kate Spade wallets, Jellycat soft toys, baby gifts, CDs, candlesticks, picture frames, and soaps and bath bombs, the Dockyard outlet is a gift to West Enders.

Bellissima (tel. 441/735-5595, bellissima.bermuda [at] live [dot] com, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. daily) caters to West End fashionistas eager for high-end designer sunglasses, handbags, and accessories by Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Robert Cavalli, Marc Jacobs, and other big names.
