Canela [1] has become an eco-adventure destination with plenty of activities for nature lovers with athletic inclinations. Atitude Ecologia e Turismo (Av. Osvaldo Aranha 391, Loja 16, tel. 54/3282-6305, www.atitude.tur.br [2]) offers reasonably priced excursions that include trekking and/or rappelling. Half-day outings cost R$40–65 per person depending on the activities involved.
Daredevils can get their adrenaline fix indulging in pendulum jumping—i.e., throwing themselves off the 30-meter-high (98-foot-high) Ponte Passo do Infirmo (which spans the Rio Cará waterfall) and swinging wildly in the air.
