Up the coast from Praia do Forte [1], the Estrada do Coco [2] becomes known as the Linha Verde [3] (Green Line), which stretches all the way up the coast to Bahia [4]’s frontier with the state of Sergipe. With the exception of the mega-resort complex of Costa do Sauípe—with its umpteen international hotels surrounded by a fake theme-park likeness of the Pelourinho [5]—the little fishing villages that dot this still unspoiled and beautiful stretch of coast are (for the time being) largely untouched by tourism.
