Leaving from the southwest corner of the central plaza [1], the Tranvia Turístico El Cositía (Av. Central at Calle Central Pte., tel. 963/632-1426, 9 a.m.–2 p.m. and 4–8 p.m. daily, US$4.25) is a trolley tour of Comitán [2]’s key sites; the tour lasts 45–60 minutes and includes historical information and local anecdotes. It’s a good way to get an overview of Comitán’s offerings without having to tackle the steep hills on foot. Tours leave hourly as long as there are five passengers aboard.

Comitán–Trinitaria Km. 1262, tel. 963/632-4662, toll-free Mex. tel. 800/523-4954, www.serviciosaereossancristobal.com [3]) offers aerial tours of the region, including flyovers of Lagunas de Montebello (US$200, 30 mins); Lagunas de Montebello [4], Las Nubes [5], and Laguna Miramar [6] (US$500, 90 mins); drop-off and pickup at Laguna Miramar (US$230 each way); or round-trip outings to Yaxchilán [7] and Bonampak [8] (US$785, 5.5 hrs including time at both ruins). Flights are in single-propeller Cessna planes with room for up to four passengers.
