Parque Central

San Pedro [1]’s downtown parque central (central square), hopping with vendors, shoe shiners, moneychangers, evangelical preachers, and all manner of passersby, is a perfect spot to sit down and people-watch. The square often hosts impromptu music performances or other events.

The adjacent catedral was built in 1949 and is not particularly interesting from an artistic standpoint, but it provides a relatively quiet place to sit for a minute, piped music notwithstanding. Running south from the center of the square is the peatonal, or pedestrian walkway, where moneychangers and a few jewelry sellers hang out.
