If you’re passing through to El Salvador, the colonial town of Nacaome is an interesting stop. Nacaome means “two races,” named after its founding in A.D. 148 on a peace pact between the Cholula and Chaparrastique tribes. Spaniards arrived in 1535, and built the town’s church—which was rebuilt in 1867, into a domed church on the parque central.
