Several airlines fly directly to Honduras [1] from other countries. From the United States, Continental (U.S. tel. 800/231-0856, www.continental.com [2]), American (U.S. tel. 800/433-7300, www.aa.com [3]), Delta (U.S. tel. 800/241-4141, www.delta.com [4]), and Taca (U.S. tel. 800/400-TACA—800/400-8222, www.taca.com [5]) all fly directly to Honduras [1] from either Houston, Miami, or Atlanta into Tegucigalpa [6], San Pedro Sula [7], and Roatán [8]. Taca also connects with all of Central America plus Mexico via San Salvador, while Copa (U.S. tel. 800/FLY-COPA—800/359-2672, www.copaair.com [9]) flies from Mexico City and Panama City.

There are daily connections to Roatán [8] via La Ceiba [10] on Taca/Isleña (tel. 504/552-9910, www.flyislena.com [11]), and in January 2009 Taca/Isleña initiated a nonstop flight from San Pedro Sula to Roatán on the weekends. Sosa (tel. 504/550-6545 in San Pedro Sula, aerososa [at] psinet [dot] hn) offers flights Monday–Saturday to Utila [12] and Guanaja [13], daily to Roatán [8], all via La Ceiba. (Sosa does not have a website and may be difficult to book outside of Honduras, but is a relatively reliable airline.) A new company, C.M. (tel. 504/234-1886, cmairlines [at] yahoo [dot] com) also has direct flights to Roatán [8] from Tegucigalpa [6].

Standard round-trip airfare between the United States and San Pedro Sula [7] is roughly US$550 from any of the departure cities above, US$800 if you’re departing from elsewhere, though better deals can occasionally be found in advance through travel agents or, even better, the many airline ticket websites on the Internet. Of the many agencies helpful at finding tickets to Latin America, one good one is Exito Travel (tel. 800/655-4053, www.exitotravel.com [14]). It’s always worth checking directly with the airlines also, as they often will give the best rates.
