Bahía de Jobos Reserva Nacional de Investigación Estuarina (Carr. 705, km 2.3, 787/853-4617 or 787/864-0105, Mon.–Fri. 8 a.m.–noon and 1–4 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m.–noon and 1–3 p.m., alternate Sun.) is a 2,800-acre reserve of mangrove forests and freshwater wetlands, pocketed with lagoons, salt flats, and mud beds. This is a great spot for kayaking, although rentals are not available on-site. Guided tours can be arranged in advance.
Albergue Olímpico (Carr. 712, km 0.3, 787/824-2607 or 800/981-2210, daily 8 a.m.–10 p.m., Sat.–Sun. 10 a.m.–5 p.m.) is the home of Puerto Rico [1]’s Olympic training center, with a variety of attractions that include the Puerto Rican Museum of Sports, a botanical garden, and a water park.
