Shopping outlets are pretty limited in Vieques [1]. For a quality selection of handmade crafts by local and other Caribbean artisans, there’s Kim’s Cabin Clothing Boutique and Gifts (136 Calle Flamboyan, Esperanza, 787/741-3145, daily 9:30 a.m.–5 p.m.). In addition to Haitian metal art and sea-glass earrings, you’ll find tropical-print shirts and dresses imported from Indonesia.
Another good source for tropical-print clothing is Luna Loca (343 Carr. 200, Isabel Segunda, 787/741-0264, Mon.–Sat. 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sun. 10 a.m.–4 p.m.). It also has a small selection of jewelry and framed photographs of the island by local artists.
Vibrant original paintings and prints on canvas of tropical flowers, fish, palm trees, and jungle scenes by local artist Siddhia Hutchinson can be found at Siddhia Hutchinson Fine Art Design Studio and Gallery (A-15 Calle Mon Repos, Isabel Segunda, 787/741-8780, siddhia [at] coqui [dot] net, http://siddhiahutchinson.com [2], daily 9 a.m.–3 p.m.). The artwork has also been tastefully reproduced on ceramics, dinnerware, rugs, and pillows.
