Artists, artisans, street performers, food-booth proprietors, and thousands of Tucsonans converge on 4th Avenue [2] twice a year for this popular event. The street closes down and hundreds of white tents go up, selling jewelry, paintings, photographs, leather goods, glass art, and all kinds of other items you never knew existed.
The best part of the two annual street fairs is seeing all the street performers—mostly fiddle and guitar bands and folksingers vying for attention, but there are also usually a few adorable little kids with their violins hoping for a few bucks tossed in their case. It’s a crowded, greasy-food good time every year.
Usually the spring fair, toward the end of March, is the more popular, what with the gorgeous weather and all. The winter fair is in December.
