The very small Quinta Dominica museum (Padre Billini 202 at 19 de Marzo, www.quintadominica.com [1], tel. 809/687-5944, 9:30 a.m.–6 p.m. Mon.–Sat., 9 a.m.–2 p.m. Sun., free), which opened in 2004, doesn’t have a permanent collection but has changing exhibits and events. Colonial art is the main focus but not always what is on the menu.
Past exhibits have included modern metal sculptures and religious mosaic art. Past events include lectures on varied topics, readings with authors, and photography exhibits.
The building is a renovated colonial home with a very pretty garden courtyard perfect for a rest from the bustle of the street. Signage is in Spanish only, and there is rarely literature available to accompany the art, but it doesn’t impede the enjoyment.
