Eating at El Meson de la Cava (Mirador del Sur, Av. Mirador Sur 1, tel. 809/533-2818, noon–midnight daily, US$10–20) is dining like you’ve probably never done before, inside the belly of a massive cave. Despite the stalactites, this is a formal restaurant with white tablecloths and waiters in tuxedos. Elegance and good food make for a dining experience, but it’s not particularly fantastic cuisine. International choices include many fish dishes (like shrimp in a white wine sauce), veal cutlets, and lamb chops. Reservations are required.
