Scottsdale [1] may not be the “city that never sleeps,” but it sure goes to bed tired. Its pleasure-loving residents and visitors happily fill their days with weeklong culinary events and international film festivals [2] while their evenings simmer with energy at performing arts venues [3], before coming to a full boil at the dozens of nightclubs and lounges [4] that lure the Valley’s self-indulgent party set, as well athletes and pop stars who regularly serve as tabloid fodder.
That’s not to say you won’t find less style-conscious venues where you can have fun. The Old West’s saloons and gambling halls manage to live on. Cowboy bars [5] still attract boot-wearing regulars to their live shows and honky-tonk dance floors, and casinos [6] at the neighboring Indian communities now offer glittery slot machines along with a bit of old-fashioned poker.
