Blond Giraffe (107 Simonton St., 305/296-9174, 9 a.m.–8 p.m. daily) has stores throughout Key West [1] and South Florida selling their award-winning key lime pies and other desserts, but this location boasts a factory where you can watch the pies being made. It doesn’t get much fresher than that, and as a perfect accompaniment, the factory store also sells fresh-roasted coffee.
The homemade gelatos, sorbets, and frozen yogurts at Flamingo Crossing (1105 Duval St., 305/296-6124, 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Mon.–Thurs., 11 a.m.–midnight Fri.–Sat., noon–11 p.m. Sun.) are a Key West institution, and for good reason. The Flamingo’s kaleidoscope of flavors—from Cuban coffee and raspberry cappuccino to tropical tastes like mango and soursop—are devastatingly refreshing.
