Naples [1] is definitely a steaks-and-chops kind of town, and the Pewter Mug Steakhouse (12300 N. Tamiami Tr., 239/597-3017, lunch 11 a.m.–2 p.m. Mon.–Fri., dinner 4:30–10 p.m. daily, main courses from $16) is one of the more popular, and populist, places in town to get a well-cooked slab of meat. The atmosphere is a bit old-fashioned, the portions are quite large, and the copious salad bar will help appease any guilt you may feel about indulging in one of the 16-ounce prime ribs.

Andre’s Steakhouse (2800 E. Tamiami Tr., 239/263-5851, 5–9 p.m. Mon.–Sat. May–Sept., main courses from $26) is a distinctly more upscale experience, with a dark and romantic dining room. Steaks are served New York–style, coated in butter, and plated with sides like creamed spinach and asparagus.

The modern and stylish Cafe Lurcat (494 S. 5th Ave., 239/213-3357, 5–10 p.m. Mon.–Thurs., 5–11 p.m. Fri.–Sat., 5–9 p.m. Sun., main courses from $19) has an expansive menu with fresh fish and seafood selections combined with a solid selection of steaks and chops. The European atmosphere is reflected in unusual menu choices like buckwheat crepes, brie, pickled figs, and even a few Asian-inspired preparations.

For something decidedly more low-key, the strip mall location of The Keg (8990 Fontana Del Sol Way, 239/566-9616, 4 p.m.–midnight Mon.–Thurs., 4 p.m.–1 a.m. Sat., 4–11 p.m. Sun., main courses from $13) all but requires that the restaurant not try to put on airs. The result is a steakhouse-bar combo that is friendly and very reasonably priced.
