Tucked away in an early-20th-century bank building, the Halifax Historical Museum (252 S. Beach St., 386/255-6976, www.halifaxhistorical.org [1], 10 a.m.–4 p.m. Tues.–Sat., $5 adults, $1 children) is on the small side, but with its sharp focus on tracing the history of the area from the pre-Columbian era all the way to the 1940s, it provides an interesting respite from the visual blare and blight of the typical Daytona [2] experience.
