Go for a swim in the indoor pools at Echo Hollow (1560 Echo Hollow Rd., 541/682-5525) or Sheldon (2445 Willakenzie Rd., 541/682-5314). Drop-in visitors pay a few bucks.
Lane County Ice (Lane County Fairgrounds, 796 W. 13th Ave., 541/687-3615) offers ice-skating lessons and open public skating.
It must be said that Eugene [1]’s weather sometimes makes indoor activities more appealing than scampering up wet rocks. On those days, or after a day of running and biking, drop in for some yoga at Four Winds Center (in the Tamarack Wellness Center, 3575 Donald St., 541/484-6100, www.fourwindsyoga.org [2]), which offers a wide variety of classes with some very good teachers.
Of the many public tennis courts throughout Eugene, the best-lit facilities are at the University of Oregon [3] and at 24th Avenue and Amazon Parkway near Roosevelt Middle School.
