Laurelwood Golf Course (2700 Columbia St., 541/484-4653 for tee times) is a city-owned golf course with a 250-yard driving range. Greens fees ($25) and rentals are reasonable.

Of the many courses in Lane County, Tokatee (54947 Rte. 126, Blue River, 541/822-3220 or 800/452-6376, $42 for 18 holes) is the best. To get there, drive 47 miles east of Eugene [1] on the McKenzie Highway [2] (Rte. 126). The 18 holes are set in a mountainous landscape patrolled by elk and other forest creatures in the shadow of the Three Sisters.
