There are some reasonable lodging options in the Oakridge [1] area. The Bluewolf Motel (47465 Rte. 58, 541/782-5884, $40 and up) is a small, simple motel with microwaves and refrigerators.
The plush place to stay in these parts is the Best Western Oakridge Inn (47433 Rte. 58, 541/782-2212 or 800/528-1234, $96), which has 30 spacious guest rooms and a pool, a hot tub, and HBO.
In the former office building of Hines Lumber Company in Westfir, across the street from the covered bridge [2], is the Westfir Lodge (47365 1st St., Westfir, 541/782-3103, www.westfirlodge.com [3], $80 and up). The building has been tastefully converted into seven guest rooms with English-style bathrooms (each room has its own private bath, but it’s across the hall from the bedroom). The house is full of curious Asian antiques, and the pantry used to be the company vault. A full breakfast (try the English bangers) is included.
