To sample the county’s freshest produce, visit the Tillamook Farmers Market in downtown Tillamook [1]. It runs every Saturday, mid-June–late September, on Laurel Avenue.
The Farmhouse Cafe at the Tillamook Cheese Factory [2] serves breakfast and lunch (8 a.m.–6 p.m. daily Labor Day–mid-June, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. daily summer, $4–8). The deli at the Blue Heron French Cheese Company [3] fixes sandwiches, soups, and salads daily; in polls conducted by the local paper, this is one of the locals’ favorite lunch spots.
La Mexicana (2203 3rd St., 503/842-2101, 11 a.m.–9 p.m. daily, $8–16) is the town’s best Mexican restaurant. This restaurant, located in a vintage home on the edge of downtown, goes way beyond tacos and burritos, preparing local fish and seafood with south-of-the-border zest and finesse.
On the west side of U.S. 101, between the two cheese meccas, lunchtime do-it-yourselfers might check the locally raised and cured meat and smoked salmon at Debbie D’s Sausage Factory (503/842-2622).
Take your time to savor a cup of tea at La Tea Da Tea Room (904 Main Ave., 503/842-5447, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Mon.–Sat. summer, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. Tues.–Sat. winter, high tea $21). Go for the full high tea or settle for scones, soup, or little tea sandwiches.
