The Adventure Center (40 N. Main St., 541/488-2819 or 800/444-2819, www.raftingtours.com [1]) offers half-day, full-day, and multiday fishing, rafting, and cycling trips for any size party. The cost of the rafting trips includes gear (wetsuits, splash jackets, etc.), guides, and transport from Ashland [2].
Half-day rafting trips (9 a.m.–1 p.m. or 1–5 p.m., $75) include a snack; the longer white-water picnic trip (9:30 a.m.–4 p.m., $129) includes lunch. Rated one of the best floats in southern Oregon, the upper Klamath River trip ($135) generally runs 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. and includes all meals.
If you like to ride a bike but are not big on pedaling, contact the Adventure Center for information about their Mount Ashland downhill bike cruise. This half-day morning or picnic-lunch ride descends 4,000 feet on 16 miles of quiet paved roads through the countryside to Emigrant Reservoir. The three-hour morning cruise ($65) departs at 8 a.m. and includes fruit, pastries, and drinks. The four-hour picnic cruise ($69) departs at 11 a.m. and includes a great lunch in a beautiful mountain glade.
Bicycles, safety equipment, round-trip transfer from Ashland, and an experienced guide are provided. All you have to do is steer! The Adventure Center also rents mountain bikes by the hour or by the day; the price includes a helmet, a lock, and maps.
