Wine-Tasting

The climate of southern Oregon [1] is ideal for many Bordeaux varietals such as cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, and merlot. The country-cottage tasting room at Ashland Vineyards (2275 E. Main St., 541/488-0088, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Tues.–Sun. Mar.–Dec., by appointment only Jan.–Feb.) gives you the opportunity to sample the local product.

Nearby is Weisinger’s Vineyard (3150 Siskiyou Blvd., 541/488-5989 or 800/551-9463, 11 a.m.–5 p.m. daily May–Sept., 11 a.m.–5 p.m. Wed.–Sun. Oct.–Apr.). The vineyard, which has received national and international awards, produces cabernet sauvignon, gewürtztraminer, pinot noir, chardonnay, sauvignon blanc, and Italian varietals.
