Omar’s (1380 Siskiyou Blvd., 541/482-1281, 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m. and 5–9 p.m. Mon.–Thurs., 11:30 a.m.–2 p.m. and 5–10 p.m. Fri., 5–10 p.m. Sat., 5–9 p.m. Sun., $14–30) is Ashland [1]’s oldest restaurant (mastodon bones were found when excavating for the restaurant in 1946) and its only traditional steakhouse. Come for hand-cut steaks, fresh seafood, and a broad selection of eclectic main dishes, such as chipotle-cranberry roast chicken, all served in a darkly atmospheric dining room. For the quality, the prices are very moderate.
