Originally a rehabilitation station for injured birds of prey, Wildlife Images (11845 Lower River Rd., 541/476-0222, www.wildlifeimages.org [1], $10 adults, donations requested for children) has expanded into an outreach program to aid all kinds of injured or orphaned wildlife as well as to educate the public.
Bears, cougars, raccoons, and many other indigenous creatures have been helped by this organization. Once the animals are well enough to survive in the wild, they are released.
Four tours are offered at 9:30 and 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 and 3:00 p.m. daily, plus another evening tour at 6 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, May–August. During most of the rest of the year, two tours per day are given at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. (call to confirm). For all tours, be sure to call ahead and reserve your place, as they fill up quickly.
To get to Wildlife Images from Grants Pass [2] from 6th Street downtown, head south, turn right onto G Street, continue to Upper River Road, and then onto Lower River Road.
